Egyptian Housewife
In Pharaoh’s times: While the peasant is irrigating his field with the shaduf (Egyptian Shaduf cutout), his wife is preparing the meal. On a millstone she grinds the flour and it is gathered in a basket. Mechanism: This model is inspired by a mechanical toy from the age of the ancient Egyptians. But the miller at that time was moved by a string. Now the rotation of the crank is transformed into the motion of the upper part of the body by an oscillating lever – size of the assembled model: 14 x 6 x 29 cm. Designed by Walter Ruffler. Difficulty: Medium.
