CMT News - May 2010
Welcome to this month's news from CMT.
We have a new selection of free downloads for you this month, including a Paul Spooner automata design and some Peter Markey cutouts. If you are a teacher, or work in an educational establishment you will now be able to take advantage of our new 15% CMT Discount for Learning. We also have a whole host of tiny automata in stock now.

'Spooner Automata Design'
This free download contains Paul Spooners plans for an automata called Frustrated Felines . The detailed plans give an insight into how the automata was constructed, (a small edition was made and sold at CMT in the 1980s). It makes a challenging project for an automata enthusiast!

Miniature Automata
We have a range of miniature automata in stock now, including this lovely stork delivering a baby down a chimney pot. The ideal present to celebrate a new baby. We also have weightlifting strongmen, muscular mice, tiny teddies and seesawing ladybirds.

Free Downloads
Peter Markey designed 3 paper cutouts for us when we moved to Covent Garden in London in 1984. The Strong Man, The Soldier with Nodding Head and The Baddy Cowboy. We have now added these to our downloads section, so you can print your own on some card, and have a go at making them. We also have the exhibition catalogue from Tim Hunkin's Exhibition - Prototypes and Leftovers, and some designs and drawings by Ron Fuller. .
CMT Schools Discount
We know that budgets are often limited, so we now offering a 15% discount for all school (and other educational establishments) orders, both in the UK and worldwide. Our designing Automata Kit, books, cutouts and DVD make great teaching aids for the classroom. They make a wonderful introduction to basic mechanics, and understanding movement. Students are quickly inspired to have a go at making their own designs.

Mechanical Aquarium
Less than a thousand people had the pleasure of seeing Richard Sharples ethereal mechanical fish in London earlier this month. Publicity was minimal, and only 15 visitors at a time were led down the canal path and into a derelict building to enter the aquarium. The effect was stunning, the setting really gave the visitor the feeling of being underwater with these animated creatures. You can read more about the exhibition and see a gallery of images and a video here

We are hoping that Richard's fish will surface again - watch this space!
