Now on the last leg of it’s Far East tour, our Mechanics Alive!! exhibition was officially opened by Her Royal Highness Princess Siriwanwaree Nareeratana of Thailand on July 26th at the Thailand Creative and Design Center in Bangkok.

The Princess was enthralled by the exhibits, and also tried out the designing automata kit in the workshop area. The exhibition is proving to be a real crowd pleaser, as last weeks article in ‘The Nation’ reveals. The exhibition closes on 30th September 2007.

Our travelling exhibition, Mechanics Alive!! will open at the Seongnam Arts Center in Seongnam near Seoul, South Korea on April 12th.

It can be seen here until 19th May 2007.

The exhibition will then move to Chungmu Art Hall

There will be a series of workshops for children and adults throughout the exhibitions.

This first ever Korean tour has been organised by our colleague Min Kyoung Cho, at UTOSPACE. Cho has been a tremendous fan of CMT since she first saw our exhibition at the Oxo Gallery in London 3 years ago. Cho’s current exhibition Cookie Architecture is a great favourite!

CMT’s Touring Exhibition ‘Mechanics Alive!!’ opens today at the Singapore Science Centre.
The exhibition is part of iFutures a celebration of new technologies in Singapore. CMT’s automata are used to introduce a pre-digital and artistic element to the exhibition. The official opening by the President of Singapore took place last night amid remote controlled kites, robot dancers and an indoor firework display.

The exhibition continues until March 2007, and there are a series of workshops planned using the Designing Automata Kit.

Over 30 pieces of automata, including the Fugu Eater (pictured) will be on show at the Rias Ark Museum of Art in Japan until the end of August. The pieces are all from the Fourteen Ball Toy Co and are presented by Molen (CMT Japanese licensee - as you know even though we are called ‘Cabaret’ we are not sleazy…)
